Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting a rare earth metal ion by which the rare earth metal ion can efficiently be extracted by a simple operation; and to provide a more effective extractant therefor.
SOLUTION: The N, N'-bisphosphonoalkanediamine compound is represented by general formula [1] (wherein, R1 to R4 are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or aryl group which may have a substituent, or the like; R5 is an alkanediyl group which may have a substituent). The method for producing the N,N'-bisphosphonoalkanediamine compound comprises reacting an amine compound with an organophosphorus compound in the presence of a basic compound to form a phosphorus-nitrogen bond, and subjecting the obtained product to an oxidation reaction. The extractant of the rare earth metal ion contains the N,N'-bisphosphonoalkanediamine compound. The method for extracting the rare earth metal ion from an aqueous solution containing the rare earth metal ion uses the extractant.
