Title:
NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005293931
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics by obtaining a positive electrode with satisfactory dispersibility of a slurry and with improved conductivity by optimizing specific surface areas of a carbon material small in specific surface area and a carbon powder large in specific surface area or the addition ratios thereof.

The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention comprises a positive electrode 11 containing a positive electrode active material capable of inserting and removing lithium ions, a negative electrode 12 containing a negative electrode active material capable of inserting and removing lithium ions, and a separator 13 for separating the positive electrode 11 and the negative electrode 12 from each other. The positive electrode 11 contains the positive electrode active material and a positive electrode mixture composed of a carbon material as a conductive assistant and a binder. The carbon material as a conductive assistant is composed of a first carbon material having a specific surface area of 700 to 1,500 m2/g and a second carbon material having a specific surface area of 600 m2/g or less, and the proportion of the first carbon material is not lower than 5 mass % and not higher than 10 mass % with respect to the mass of the entire carbon material.
