Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which can be charged and discharged at a high rate, and enables achievement of a long life even in the case of using a positive electrode active material including a substance having an olivine structure.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode 1 including a positive electrode active material having an olivine structure and a positive electrode current collector foil; a negative electrode 2 including a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode current collector foil; a porous insulative layer 11 interposed between the positive and negative electrodes, and including inorganic fine particles; and an ion-conducting nonaqueous electrolyte. The porous insulative layer 11 is formed on at least one of the positive electrode 1 and the negative electrode 2, of which the film thickness is in a range of 4.0-20 μm. In the positive electrode active material, the average particle diameter Dis in a range of 0.10-10 μm, and Dis in a range of 3.0-30 μm. The quotient of the average particle diameter Dof the positive electrode active material divided by the average particle diameter Dof the inorganic fine particles included in the porous insulative layer is 0.025 or larger.
