Title:
NONAQUEOUS SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3531274
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily provide a negative electrode material suitable for nonaqueous secondary battery having a large charge and discharge capacity by heating a coke whose O/C is made to a specified value by oxidization with a mineral acid at a specified temperature under inert gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A crude coke obtained, for example, by thermally treating coal tar pitch at about 400-500°C by an autoclave is pulverized to make a maximum diameter less than about 100μm. The resulting coke is oxidized by the contact with nitric acid (concentration of about 1-16N) at about room temperature-less than 100°C for several minutes to several hours to provide a coke having an O/C of 0.20 or more (atomic ratio). This coke is heated at 900-1500°C under inert gas atmosphere. Thus, a negative electrode material suitable for nonaqueous secondary battery having a large charge and discharge capacity can be provided from inexpensive coke.
