Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a stable noncontact shaft seal condition with a simple structure, and to facilitate cleaning for a zone which is exposed to interior gas.
SOLUTION: In a shaft seal device, a seal end face forming part 21e is formed in an end zone of a seal ring 21 inward of an O-ring 22 for sealing an interior space at the outer peripheral side of the seal ring 21, being radially projected from a seal ring holding part 21f on the exterior side, and a seal surface 21s is formed on the interior side end face of the seal end face forming part 21e so that its outer peripheral edge is located radially outside of the seal ring holding part 21f. With this arrangement, the interior pressure is effected in a direction opposite to the seal surface 21s and the exterior side end face of the seal end face forming part 21e. Thus, even if the interior pressure varies, a noncontact shaft seal condition is stably held. Further, there may be simply provided such a structure that the interior pressure is effected in a closing direction. Moreover, a zone which is exposed to interior gas can be simply cleaned.
