Abstract:

To suppress deposition of boiler scale by adding a combination of a nonionic polymer expressed by a specified formula and an org. amine in an effective amt. for the purpose to an aq. medium.

A nonionic polymer expressed by formula I, for example, hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate is combined with an org. amine such as morpholine and used. In the formula I, R1 is H or lower (1-4C) alkyl, R2 is CH2-CH2-On ((n) is an integer 1 to 40), expressed by formula II or a mixture of these, R3 is H, lower (1-4C) alkyl or acetate. The combination is used in an effective amt. according to the purpose and added to the aq. medium. The number average mol.wt. of the nonionic polymer is not specified, and is specified about 100 to 100,000, preferably 1,500 to 10,000.
