EXAMPLE: Benzyl ester of sodium 5,6-trans-3-pantetheinyl-6-ethyl-7-oxo-biazacyclo [3.2.0]hept-2-ene-2-carboxylate.
USE: An antimicrobial agent, having the β-lactamase inhibitory activity and an ability to enhance the antimicrobial activity, of an antimicrobial substance, e.g. penicillin or cephalosporin, synergistically against microorganisms capable of producing the β-lactamase, and effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
PROCESS: A spore or hypha, belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and having the ability to produce an antibiotic OA-6129A, e.g. Streptomyces sp. OA-6129(FERM-P No.5714), is cultivated in a nutrient culture medium aerobically, and the compound of the formula is obtained from the resultant culture.
