Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled novel polyamide having a high melting enthalpy, a high melting point and high crystallinity useful for molded articles, extrusion molded articles and so on, which comprises terephthalic acid, naphthalene-2,6- dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic diamine.
CONSTITUTION: A glass reactor equipped with an anchor type stirrer is purged with nitrogen, into which are introduced terephthalic acid, naphthalene-2,6- dicarboxylic acid and hexamethylenediamine or the like, which are heated up to 360°C in a heating bath to bring about a melt polycondensation reaction for 20 minutes and subsequently the reaction is stopped to obtain the aimed copolyamide having high crystallinity over the whole composition range, a melting enthalpy ΔH of 3.5 cal/g or more and a melting point of TM of 270°C or above comprising 1-99 mol.% of a unit of formula I [wherein R is a carbon chain of the formula (CH2)n, wherein n is 4-20; AR1 is the residue from the condensation of terephthalic acid and/or diester thereof] and 99-1 mol.% of a unit of formula II (wherein AR2 is the residue from the condensation of naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and/or diester thereof).
