Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a deriv. having the antagonistic action on an andiotensin II acceptor, especially, angiotonic action and acting as an inhibitor of nutritional action at a level of muscle cells.
CONSTITUTION: This deriv. (salt) is represented by formula I [wherein R1 is alkyl, alkenyl or the like; R2 and R3 are each H, halogen, hydroxyl or the like; R4 is -(CH2)m1-S(O)m2-X-R10 (wherein m1 is 0-4; X is a single bond, -NH-, -NH-CO- or the like; R10 is H, 1-6C alkyl, alkenyl or the like), halogen or the like], for example, 2-butyl-1-{[2'-carboxy(1,1'-biphenyl)-4- yl]methyl}-4-(phenylthio)-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylic acid. The drive. is obtained, for example, by reacting a compd. obtained by oxidizing a compd. represented by formula II (wherein Hal is halogen; and R'4 is a group wherein the reactive functional group of R4 is protected) with a compd. represented by formula III (wherein R'3 is a group wherein the reactive functional group of R3 is protected) and further performing addition reaction and cyclizing reaction.
