To provide an obturator for occluding the lumen of a catheter easily and effectively, and to enable the obturator to be smoothly inserted into the catheter.
This obturator 12 comprises a body part 13 to be inserted into the lumen 5c of a catheter and an elastic part 14 which has elasticity. The body part 13 occludes the lumen 5c and has an outer peripheral surface, which can slide along the wall of the lumen 5c. The elastic part 14 is formed so that at least one part of the elastic part is protruded outward from the outer peripheral surface of the body part 13, when no external force is applied. If the obturator is placed in the lumen 5c of the catheter, the protruded part touches to the lumen wall of the catheter, and by elasticity produced in the elastic part 14, the obturator 12 can be stopped in the lumen.
