Title:
OIL PASSAGE STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3733743
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for modifying the shape of cylinder block or cylinder head by providing an oil pipe between the downstream passage of the oil pump and the oil control valve, and by disposing it inside the chain chamber.
SOLUTION: The oil in the oil pan, driven by the oil pump, is sucked from an oil strainer 82, sent and supplied from a suction port 70 to a discharge port 72. From the discharge port, the oil is via a sub oil gallery delivered to an oil filter and a main oil gallery 116, then via an oil pipe 134 to the oil control valve. The oil pipe 134 is provided with first through third bends 144-1 through 144-3 such that interference of the pipe with the oil pump at one end side to a second cylinder block is avoided, and the other end to the cylinder head is formed in generally straight along the timing chain. This structure allows introduction of oil from the lower part of the cylinder block to the cylinder head without need of any shape modification to the existing first and second cylinder blocks.
