In the oil seal including a seal lip provided with a lip edge slidably in close contact with a circumferential surface of a shaft over the entire circumference and a screw part exerting pumping action during shaft rotation, the screw part is provided with a satin finished part to reduce the rigidity of the screw part so that the contact surface of the lip edge relative to the shaft is not discontinuous on a circumference due to the reduction in tensioning in the seal lip causing the screw part to be hardly collapsed.
