PURPOSE: To provide an oil seal which is of a small size and a light weight, can realize a low cost, has an excellent handling efficiency, and has an excellent heatproof property and chemical-resistant property, in an oil seal using a high class rubber material, with the outer diameter of the shaft to be seal at the size more than 60 mm.
CONSTITUTION: While the outer peripheral surface of the vertical edge 22a and the lower surface of the lateral edge 22b of a vertical reinforcing ring 22 with an about L-shaped section form are covered by a rubber type elastic body, a lip main body 23 which consists of a rubber type elastic body is erected and formed from the inner end of the lateral edge 22b toward the upper inner side, and a lip 25 adhered to the outer peripheral surface of a shaft to be sealed to the lip main body 23 with a specific inference is formed so as to form this oil seal 21. Consequently, the rubber type elastic body is made of a high class rubber material, the outer diameter of the shaft is made larger than 60 mm, and at least either one side of the height of the oil seal 21 or the length in the diameter direction of the oil seal 21 is made less than 6mm.
