Title:
OIL-TEMPERED WIRE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND SPRING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010163689
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an oil-tempered wire which has both of high fatigue strength and toughness after nitriding treatment; a method for manufacturing the same; and a spring manufactured by using the oil-tempered wire.

The oil-tempered wire has a tempered martensite structure. When the oil-tempered wire is subjected to gas nitriding processing at 450°C for two hours, a lattice constant of a nitride layer formed in a surface part of the wire becomes 2.881-2.890 Å. When the oil-tempered wire is heated at 450°C for two hours, the tensile strength becomes 1,975 MPa or more, the flow stress becomes 1,769 MPa or more and a draw ratio becomes more than 40%. This oil-tempered wire is obtained by subjecting a steel wire which has been drawn to a quenching step and a two-step tempering process.
