To provide an opening and closing device for toilet lid which places less burden on user's body than an existing toilet lid the surface of which faces a user through a normal opening action to lift the tip of the toilet lid.

The toilet lid 10 provides a main rail 11 provided on the back side of the toilet lid 10 and extending forward and backward of the toilet, and a subrail 12. The opening and closing mechanism 20 comprises a main rod 21 which rotates on the back end of the toilet lid 10 as a supporting point along with opening and closing action for the toilet lid, a subrod 23 which rotates relatively with the main rod 21, a main link 25 provided slidably on the main rail 11 which links turnably with the end of the main rod 21, a sublink 27 provided slidably on the subrail 12 which links rotatably with the end of the subrod 23, a main pulley 30 provided on the supporting point at the back end of the toilet rotatably and relatively with the main rod 21, a subpulley 31 provided integrally with the subrod 23 and rotatably on the supporting point in the middle of the main rod 21, and a belt 32 hanging the main pulley 30 and the subpulley 31.
