PURPOSE: To provide an operation method in which uneven abrasion of the pulverizing surface of a table is prevented in a vertical roller mill.

CONSTITUTION: The circumferential speed of a table 3a driven by a motor 1 and that of a roller 7 are inputted in an arithmetic unit 15 to calculate 'a rolling point' at which both the circumferential speeds become the same by the arithmetic unit 15. The revolution of the motor 1 is controlled through an inverter 16 and the rolling point is moved, so that the uneven abrasion of a pulverizing surface 3c of the table 3a is prevented.
