Abstract:
The present invention enables the filter boundary of a light branching/insertion device to be specified at a terminal station even when the proportion occupied by the wavelength band of dummy light within the wavelength bandwidth of an optical transmission system is larger than the proportion occupied by the wavelength band of a main optical signal. The optical transmission system is provided with a terminal station device for outputting a wavelength-multiplexed optical signal in which an optical signal and dummy light are combined, and a light branching/insertion device for accepting the individual wavelength-multiplexed optical signals outputted from a plurality of terminal station devices as input and applying an add/drop process to the inputted optical signals. The dummy light is of a wavelength arrangement in which the intervals between adjacent wavelengths are equidistant and the wavelength arrangement of the dummy light differs for each terminal station device.
