To provide an optical communication network which allows a redundant configuration to be rebuilt rapidly according to a fault.
The optical communication network consists of a plurality of node devices having functions to transmit and receive optical signals, wherein each node device is configured to transmit the optical signal received at a particular wavelength at the same wavelength. The network also includes a first optical path P1 for connecting the node device as a transmitting end and the node device as a receiving end, and a second optical path P3 which serves as an optical path for connecting the node device as the transmitting end and the node device as the receiving end by using a channel differing slightly from the first optical path P1, has a channel to merge into the first optical path P1 in the middle of the path, and involves a blocking/transmission switch 5 for switching between blocking and transmission of the optical signals in the path in a place on the upstream side from the merging point.
