Title:
OPTICAL DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3176256
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an optical device capable of renewing an image at high speed and recording and reproducing a halftone image.
CONSTITUTION: A lens 2 is arranged so that spatially fluctuated intensity distribution is formed on a light receiving body 12 in a picture element area and a charge pattern is formed thereon. The light receiving body 12 is connected to a liquid crystal device 10 so that the area 29 of the device 10 is switched to a white cloudy state when the light intensity of an area to which the light receiving body 12 is related exceeds a threshold Ith by impressing appropriate recording voltage between the light receiving body 12 and the device 10. By removing the recording voltage, the image held in the device 10 is non-volatile- stored and reproduced when it is irradiated with a readout beam. A halftone analog image is reproduced from the picture element area. The plural picture element areas are provided as an array, whereby the monochrome image is recorded and reproduced.
