Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical disk drive which can record or reproduce a low-data-rate signal and a different-data-rate signal at the same linear speed.
SOLUTION: Multiple sectors SC are provided on an information track 2, eight virtual channels having 1st to 8th channel numbers (CH1 to CH8) are formed in areas which are selected cyclically by every N=8 sectors SC, and signals are recorded or reproduced in order in units of sectors forming the channels. When the number (p) of channels assigned to the recording of a signal is larger than 1, the channels assigned to the signal recording are grouped and a subordiante management file for managing the group is provided for the group.
