Title:
OPTICAL FIBER COMMUNICATION SYSTEM EQUIPPED WITH DISPERSIVE RAMAN AMPLIFIER AND REMOTE PUMP TYPE ERBIUM-DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3640289
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce multi-optical path interference in an optical fiber communication system.
SOLUTION: This optical fiber communication system is equipped with a remote pump type erbium-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA 24). Pump radiation is detuned with respect to wavelength, which is so selected that it is longer than both the optimum wavelength for pumping EDFA and the optimum wavelength for giving Raman gain to a transmission fiber (23). As a result of detuning such as this, multi-optical path interference is reduced, so that the total system performance is improved. For example, the wavelength of the pump radiation is within a range of 1490 to 1510 nm.
