PURPOSE: To average the interference of light of multi-reflected light, and to eanble the prevention of reflection without connection loss by inclining the gap between the end faces of optical fiber relatively to the optical axis and forming the same into a wedge shape.
CONSTITUTION: The ferrule 6 of an optical fiber connector consists of an optical fiber cable 7, an optical fiber 8 and a positioning key 9, and the forward end 10 thereof is finished by polishing obliquely to an angle θ relatively to the face 11 at a right angle to the optical axis, and the central axis 12 of the polished surface is rotated by α° relatively to the key 9. A at the end faces 10, 10' of the fibers 8, 8' denotes the light passing directly through the fibers 8, 8', B the reflected light returning after reflected by the end face 10 and the end face 10', and C the multi-reflected light reflected by the end faces 10 and 10' and entering the fiber 8', respectively. Since the gap is diagonal to the optical axis and is of a wedge shape, the light B is escaped to the clad and the light C in the advancing direction is averaged in interference; therefore the fluctuating width of the loss is decreased.
