Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber device disposed between a multi-core optical fiber and a plurality of single core optical fibers capable of reducing an insertion loss.SOLUTION: The optical fiber device includes a plurality of optical fibers 111, whose one ends are melt-drawn and integrated to constitute a multi-core optical fiber connection 13. Each of the plurality of optical fibers 111 has a portion 133 which is formed so that a diameter of a core 111a becomes gradually smaller in the multi-core optical fiber connection 13. In between a maximum value and a minimum value of the diameter of the core 111a in the portion 133, there is a diameter at which, in a relationship between the diameter of core 111a and a mode field diameter when a light of wavelength 1.55 μm is transmitted, the mode field diameter shows a minimum value.
