Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber having an MFD smaller than 9.0 μm and an optical fiber transmission path, capable of more accurately measuring splice loss by performing an OTDR measurement from one direction even if the optical fiber are intermingled in a transmission path mainly constituted by optical fibers compliant with ITU-T G.652 standard having an MFD of 9.0 to 9.2 μm at 1310 nm, and to provide a splicing method of the optical fiber transmission path.SOLUTION: An optical fiber comprises a core and a cladding surrounding the core. A refractive index of the core is higher than a refractive index of the cladding. An MFD at a 1310 nm wavelength is smaller than 9.0 μm, and a cable cutoff wavelength is shorter than 1260 nm. A bending loss in applying a ten-turn bending of a 15 mm radius thereto is maximum 0.25 dB at a 1550 nm wavelength and maximum 1 dB at a 1625 nm wavelength. A transmission loss at a 1310 nm wavelength is 0.32 dB/km or less.
