Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide an optical film for reducing the occurrence of cracks or debris during punching of a polarizing plate when the optical film is used as a protective film of the polarizing plate. The optical film of the present invention is an optical film containing a cycloolefin resin, wherein the cycloolefin-based resin is a cycloolefin resin that has at least one hydrogen-bond acceptor. The film contains alcohol solvents and hindered phenolic compound. The hydrophobicity measured by the methanol wettability manner enables 0.1 to 2.5 by mass% containing silicon dioxide particles relative to the total mass of the film. The hydrophobicity of the silicon dioxide particles is below 20% when methanol and pure water use a first solution of 3:7 by a volume ratio, and the hydrophobicity is above 80% when a second solution of 6:4 is used to the whole mass of the film by a volume ratio.
