Title:
OPTICAL JUNCTURE STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3652847
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable constitution as a small-sized optical module by specifying the relation between an intersection angle in the inner side direction of optical fibers for incidence and emission and the distance between the central axes of the fibers for incidence and emission and intersecting the fibers for incidence and emission.
SOLUTION: This structure comprises the optical fibers 1 having both functions of the incidence and emission of light and an optical element for tightly adhering and joining the propagation light from the optical fibers 1. In such a case, the optical fibers 1 for incidence and emission are intersected in the inner direction at a certain angle θ. The optical fibers 1 for incidence and emission are intersected under the conditions of θ>0°, L>125 μm when the distance between the central axes of the fibers for incidence and emission is defined as L. The optical fibers 1 function to make the propagation light from the optical fibers 1 incident on the optical element 2 tightly contacting and joining the propagation light and to emit this light from the same. The distance L between the central axes of the optical fibers 1 depends on the thickness and refractive index of the optical element 2. As a result, the fiber array and the optical element 2 are directly tightly adhered by a lensless structure, by which the optical juncture structure is constituted.
