Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for such a fine electrode forming structure as the conventional electrostatic actuators and wirings associated with electrodes and to enable exact handling to be carried out in an isolated environment by driving a mover by energy transmission by light.
CONSTITUTION: This optical operation type manipulator has a stationary part 11 consisting of a ferroelectric polymer film having a photovoltaic effect, a soln. reservoir 13 provided thereon, fine particles 17 housed in this soln. reservoir 13, a light source for irradiating the stationary part 11 with light and a means for shifting this light source. Charges are induced by the spontaneous polarization of the stationary part 11 by irradiating this part with the light from the light source. The fine particles 15 are electrified with the charges reverse to the induced charges to shift the light source, thereby the fine particles 15 are transferred.
