Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high density DRAW type optical recording medium having a superior jitter characteristic by forming a recording layer, which contains a pigment that simultaneously satisfies plural specific conditions, on a substrate provided with pre-groove.
SOLUTION: Assuming that the depth of the pre-groove of a substrate is d, the opening width is w, the thickness of the recording layer of the groove part is tg, the thickness of the recording layer of the land part is tl, the surface level of the recording layer formed on the groove part and the land part is h and the layer width of the recording layer of the groove opening part is wg, the recording layer containing a pigment is formed on the substrate so that four conditions are satisfied, namely, h/d>0.3, tg≤d, tl<100 nm, and wg/w>0.5. By so constituting the groove shape, the stability of the servo is increased; by specifying the shape of the recording layer film, the fine recording bit edge is improved, accelerating thermal conduction, relaxing thermal interference between adjacent tracks, reducing crosstalk, and enabling the high density recording bit to be closed in the groove.
