Abstract:
To realize an optical sub-carrier transmitter that needs no optical modulator.
A microwave oscillator 1 outputs a microwave and a modulated signal source 2 outputs a modulated signal. A mixer 3 modulates a microwave depending on a modulated signal. A modulated microwave amplified by an amplifier 4 is given to a locker terminal of a mode lock laser 6. The laser 6 emits an intensity-modulated optical pulse depending on the modulated microwave. A microwave for a carrier is directly modulated by giving the modulated microwave modulated by a modulating signal to the laser 6.
