To obtain the subject new compound useful as an agrochemical having extremely excellent properties not only having excellent sterilizing activity, but also hardly having influence of toxicity, etc., on organisms which do not become target to be controlled and having a specific optical rotation.
This compound is represented by formula I [Ar is a (hetero)aryl; Y is H, a halogen, a 1-4C (halo)alkyl, etc.; (n) is 1-3] and has an optical rotation exhibiting negative value in chloroform, e.g. (R)-N-methyl-2-[2-{1-(3- trifluoromethylphenyl)ethoxyiminomethyl]phenyl]-2-metoxyiminoacetic amide. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. an acetal derivative represented by formula II (R1 and R2 are each a 1-4C alkyl or R1 and R2 together form a 2-4C alkylene) with an optically active 1-areylthoxyamine derivative represented by formula III or its salt without or in an inert solvent, preferably at 10-60°C.
