An optimal design support device constructed of computers for feed drive systems of a multiaxis machine tool comprises a simulation means 2 for making a simulation about the feed drive systems by means of a mathematical model representing the feed drive systems, and outputting the result; a parameter identifying means 1 for identifying parameters of the mathematical model representing the feed drive systems, in such a manner that when the result of an experiment about the feed drive systems is input thereto, the difference between the result of the experiment and the result of the simulation is reduced; and an automatic servo-gain adjusting means 3 for automatically adjusting, based on the parameters identified, the servo gain of the mathematical model representing the feed drive systems.
