Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein useful for e.g. the analysis in vitro of drug discharge or interaction between drugs, for elucidation of pharmacokinetics or toxicokinetics on a molecular level and for screening drugs to prevent nephrotoxicity. SOLUTION: This protein is a protein comprising the amino acid sequence of the formula or its variant having at least one of amino acid deletion, substitution or addition and yet having capability of transporting organic anions, i.e., the Organic Anion Transporter 1(OAT1) and is obtained by time recombinant techniques from a cDNA encoding OAT1 and derived from a human kidney. The OAT1 gene is derived from tissues or cells of any adequate mammalian kidney as a genetic resource and is isolated and caught by the screening procedure according to the expression cloning method, etc.
