Title:
ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2939523
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent an organic electroluminescent device from being deteriorated by mechanical vibrations and impacts from the outside and to stabilize the emission characteristic of an organic electroluminescent element by providing the organic electroluminescent element in the organic electroluminescent device with a support for holding the element in place, and providing a buffer material between the substrate of the element and the support.
CONSTITUTION: When a transparent anode 2 and cathode 3 are provided on a substrate 1, a structure sandwiching an organic light-emitting material 4 between the anode and the cathode is provided, and an organic electroluminescent element 10 and a support 6 are coupled to each other using a buffer material 5 which is rubber or a porous material 51. To prevent the support 6 from making contact with the electrode 3 of the element 10 as the rubber contracts, the buffer material 5, the substrate 1 and the support 6 are secured to one another using an adhesive or screws, etc. The buffer material 5 may be a spring 52 or a plate spring 53. An organic compound usable as the material of a light emitting layer is of a benzothiazole, benzimidazole, or benzoxyzale type, and is injected into holes from the anode or an electron injecting layer.
