Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer tube of a double layer protection tube for protecting a thermocouple, the outer tube being capable of being used stably even under the presence of corrosive gas such as methane, ethane, ethylene and carbon monoxide in the hydrogen reduction atmosphere and also in the high-temperature furnace atmosphere.SOLUTION: In a structure of protecting a thermocouple 3 used for an industrial furnace with a double layer protection tube 5 comprising an inner protection tube 2 and an outer protection tube 1, a recrystallized silicon carbide protection tube or a reaction-sintered silicon carbide protection tube is used as the outer protection tube 1. On the outer surface of the outer tube 1, a coating film is formed by applying an aqueous solution of a coating agent and baking the same. The coating agent includes, as raw material, a combination of one kind or two or more kinds selected from a first group and one kind or two or more kinds selected from a second group, as shown below (excluding a combination that uses sodium oxide in the second group alone). The first group includes molybdenum silicide, iron silicide, silicon nitride, aluminum hydroxide, alumina, calcia and silicon; and the second group includes borosilicate glass, colloidal silica, frit glass and sodium oxide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
