PURPOSE: To provide the novel compounds exhibiting inhibiting activity against disease injury of cultivated plants such as fruit trees, grains or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [wherein Y represents OCH3 or NHCH3; Z represents CH or N; R represents halogen, alkyl, halogenoalkyl or Ar-A- (wherein Ar represents substitutable aryl or heteroaryl; A represents O, S, OCO, COO, CO, CH2, CH2CH2, C≡C, CH=CH, SO, SO2, NH-CH2, CH2-NH, NH, CH2O, CH2S, OCH2, SCH2, direct prosthetic group or the like; X represents O or S)], for example methyl 2-[2-(3-phenoxy-1,2,4-thiadiazole-5-yl-oxy)phenyl]-3- methoxy-acrylate, which has a strong microbiocidal activity and is useful as plant protecting agents, in particular as a fungicide, is provided by reacting 2-hydroxyphenylacrylate of formula II with oxadiazole or thiadiazole of formula III (wherein E represents electoron attracting eliminating group).
