Abstract:

To provide an MgB2 superconducting wire rod with superior critical current density characteristics using crystal boron powder which is easy to obtain and low cost.

There is used a precursor of an MgB2 superconducting wire rod that has a linear structure including a core part 2 including magnesium powder and boron powder and a sheath part 1 covering an outer peripheral part of the core part and formed of metal; the boron powder is crystalline and has a volume average diameter of 2 μm or less.
