PURPOSE: To provide a packing having high pressure tightness during installation and excellent in peeling at ladle changing and its material for the packing installed to the joining face between a sliding nozzle and long nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: A material of a packing 3 contains 70-80wt.% SiO2, 15-20wt.% Al2O3, 4-7wt.% alkali and is sintered at 1300-1400°C by molten metal heat. Also, the packing has at the joining side with the long nozzle 2 a ceramic fiber layer 4 containing 45-50wt.% Al2O3, 50-55wt.% Si O2 and at the joining side with the sliding nozzle 1 a coating layer 6 in which alumina fine particle containing 75-98wt.% Al2O3 or graphite is coated and a layer 5 in the intermediate part containing the material, that is, is made of three layer integrated construction.
