To provide a pan head unit equipped with a wiper drive means.
The pan head unit is equipped with an image sensing device 114, an image sensing device drive unit 118 which rotates the image sensing device 114 at least in a pan direction, a dome-shaped cover 122 which covers the image sensing device 114, a nearly arcuate wiper 124 having a wiping plane adapted for the outer peripheral surface of the dome-shaped cover 122, and a wiper drive means 126 which rotates the wiper in the pan direction along the outer peripheral surface so as to wipe the outer peripheral surface of the dome-shaped cover 122. The wiper drive means 126 arranges the wiper 124 at a certain position that is not included in the field of imaging of the image sensing device 114 when the wiper 124 is kept on stand-by.
