Abstract:
To easily secure ultrahigh vacuum and realize long life of a panel display device.
A panel display device 50 comprises a front panel 1 having a phosphor screen and a rear panel 2 having an electron beam emitting cathode electrode opposing the front panel 1. A container 6 to keep getters therein is a formed on the opposite side of the front panel 1 of the rear panel 2. The getters are press fitted into a recess formed on the bottom of the container 6. Since the vacuum volume is increased by the container 6 and the display device 50, getter effect can be exhibited sufficiently, ultrahigh vacuum can be kept easily, and the life of the panel display device is prolonged.
