To provide a paper conveying device which can apply a specific conveying force to papers without generating a feeding wrincle by a nipping pressure, even to a thin paper and the like.

Papers are held by a hard roller 114 and a soft roller 112. By driving the soft roller 112, the papers are conveyed by a friction force by a holding pressure of the soft roller 112 and the hard roller 114. Since the hard roller 114 has a tub form with a specific curvature radius R, the holding pressure at the central part is high, but the holding pressure is reduced gradually as separating from the central part in the axial direction. Consequently, by transferring the difference of the compression stress at the part held by the soft roller 112 and the hard roller 114 and at the free part smoothly, the generation of a feeding wrinkle can be prevented.
