To provide a paper feeding device capable of feeding papers stably at a given timing irrespective of a paper load on a lift plate.
While a cam projection 241a of a cam gear 24a is locked to a second face S2 of a projection part 122a, a lift plate 12 is held at a standby position apart from a paper feeding roller 13 against an urging force of a helical compression spring 124. In addition, when the cam gear 24a is rotated clockwise and an engaging state of the cam projection 241a with the second face S2 of the projection part 122a is canceled, a third face S3 of the projection part 122a is not brought into contact with the cam projection 241a, so that the lift plate 12 is moved upward instantly by the urging force of the helical compression spring 124 to go to a paper feeding position.
