PURPOSE: To reduce the entire time delay by devising the configuration of a file to reduce the number of times of seek operation with respect to the file configuration method in an auxiliary storage device used in common by a processor file of parallel computers.

CONSTITUTION: In the parallel computers with configuration in which plural processor cells (c) use an auxiliary storage device (d) in common, file areas by each processor cell (c) for parallel processing are allocated by a predetermined block number each consecutively in the order of the processor cells (c) using the auxiliary storage device (d) in common. They are used for one parallel unit relating to the parallel processing. Furthermore, when parallel files are accessed by one processor cell (c), files of other processor cells (c) of the same parallel unit are accessed simultaneously.
