Title:
PARALLEL-SERIAL SIGNAL CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003179504
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a high speed and small parallel-serial signal converter.

Using respective electric signals 2 inputted in parallel as transmission/cut-off signals for optical switches 81-88, the device is so constituted that the lengths of the respective optical transmission paths are changed so that the propagation times of a plurality of paths in which a pulse light 10 is distributed and passes optical switches and is synthesized into an output signal 3 again are different each other by not less than the pulse width of pulse light, and the pulse light is allowed to pass while the transmission/cut-off of the respective optical switches are settled. Since the data to be transmitted in serial are respectively generated on the basis of a single pulse light and are re-arranged while being remained as the optical signals on the optical transmission paths, a high-speed parallel-serial signal converter can be easily realized. Further, since optical distributors 71-77, optical switches, synthesizers 31-37 and optical transmission paths are formed on a substrate mounted with elements for outputting electric data signals, the converter can be miniaturized.
