Abstract:

To provide an architecture capable of maximizing storage efficiency of system with registering data, which is located at a first storage location, for migration administration and with migrating data stream, which is suitable for an other storage location, according to a predetermined reference.

A file system is allowed to use facility enabling to monitor file/stream registered for the migration administration or monitor file/stream to allow a polling according to the reference. If the data stream has a part which should be migrated to the other location, a hierarchical storage management(HSM) system migrates data of the part of the other location such as a log-term or off-line storage (420) to store a data relation of a stream with meta-data (430).
