Abstract:
To provide a partial oxidation process of hydrocarbon by which the oxidation reaction which otherwise would proceed in an explosive manner is effectively controlled in an energy-efficient way.
A hydrocarbon is partially oxidized by treating it with a normal pressure non-equilibrium plasma in the presence of oxygen. As an example of the reaction, the synthesis of methanol , formaldehyde and formic acid from methane is cited. Natural gas such as petroleum and biomass gas is converted to liquid fuel at normal temperature and pressure using the normal pressure plasma.
