Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of switching from a stop state to an operation at low speed, and from the low speed to a normal operation at a rated speed with one sensor.SOLUTION: An area sensor 70 is provided at a boarding port of a handrail 36. The area sensor 70 outputs a detection signal including a detection distance to a control unit 50, when a passenger is detected in a first detection range. When the detection signal is inputted, the control unit 50 increases the speed of footsteps 30 from a stop state to a low speed, and when the detection distance contained in the detection signal becomes shorter than a set distance, the control unit determines that the passenger has entered a second detection range and increases the speed from the low speed to a rated speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
