PURPOSE: To perform read-in without being effected by local change, by automatically using the input character graph through the use of characteristic parameter representing the partial graph and processing with one character unit even with partial graph.
CONSTITUTION: The input character graph is observed in 16 level for 64×64 bits and this is binary-coded with the average value of concentration. Further, this binary-coded input signal is inputted to the peripheral tracking unit 2, the tracking of profile line is made by using this binary-coded signal while performing the access control by the address control circuit via the local control circuit 22, and the remotest point as to the directions of a plurality predetermined to each point of tracking is pieked up with the pick up circuit 24. The construction of concave and convex is picked up with the calculator 3 from the remotest point information, the profile line is split into each line of convex component, concave component, and Hall line to obtain the characteristic amount every line. Further, the matching unit 4 matches the dictionary with the input character with the characteristic amount to output the name of dictionary of most agreement.
