Title:
PEDESTRIAN DETECTION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3431498
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a pedestrian with high reliability.
SOLUTION: A Fresnel lens 11 and a pyroelectric infrared sensor 12 are combined to constitute an infrared detection part 13, and this infrared detection part 13 is attached to the body of an automobile, and radiant infrared rays from an object in the front of the infrared sensor 12 are detected through the Fresnel lens 11, and the output signal of the infrared sensor 12 is processed by a signal processing means 14. At this time, it is judged by a signal frequency discrimination part 14a of the signal processing means 14 whether the frequency of the output signal of the infrared sensor 12 is within a prescribed frequency range or not, and it is judged by a wave number judging part 14b whether the number of waves of the output signal of the infrared sensor 12 is equal to or larger than a prescribed value. If it is judged that the frequency of the output signal of the infrared sensor 12 is within the prescribed range and the number of waves is equal to or larger than the prescribed value, the object is judged as a pedestrian, and this result is reported by a report means 15.
