Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a perfluorocyclopentene derivative containing thiophene rings at the α- and the β-positions, having a specific structure, a high isomerization ratio, a high light stability of isomerized molecule to laser beam, useful as a photochromic memory medium.
CONSTITUTION: This derivative is shown by formula I or formula II (R1 is H or a lower alkyl; R2 is a lower alkyl; ring A and ring B may be either nonsubstituted or substituted), preferably 1,2-bis[2,4-dimethyl-5-(4'-(4"-N,N- diethylaminophenyliminomethylidene)phenyl-1')thiophen-3-yl]perfluorocyclopentene. For example, the derivative is obtained by condensing a bisaminophenylthienylperfluorocyclopentene derivative of formula III with an amino compound of formula IV.
