Abstract:
PURPOSE: To selectively use a BIOS from a ROM and to reuse the RAM in which the storage and execution of the BIOS were previously intended to be performed.
CONSTITUTION: A storage device control unit 50 is composed of a storage device controller 52, an address multiplexer 54 and a data buffer 56. The storage device controller 52 includes the logic for mapping the address of a microprocessor 26 and the address from the microprocessor 26 in the specified area of a RAM 58. This logic is used for reusing the RAM which was previously occupied by the BIOS. From the storage device controller 52, also a ROM selection signal (ROMSEL) to be used for making a ROM 86 use possible or use impossible is generated.
